Local Support Groups

Eastern Panhandle/North Central/Northwest/ Southeast/Southwest

Herewith, a partial list of support groups throughout the state. Many of these groups have regular gatherings and activities; some publish newsletters, and some have websites, e-lists, and Facebook pages. If you live near a neighboring state, be sure to look for support across the border. Find support groups in VA at http://vahomeschoolers.org/guide/local-groups/. For support in other nearby states, check http://www.nhen.org/state-pages/state_homeschooling_information_2.html or http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/weblinks/support.htm#.UWlFIRbD_cv

If your support group is not listed here or you need to change your support group listing, please email support@wvhea.org or call 800-736-9843. Thanks!

I am looking into homeschooling my non verbal low functioning Autistic/MI 13 year old daughter at least by next school year. Since she really doesn’t do anything “academically” how do you create a curriculum and follow an IEP. What she NEEDS is communication, functional living, social skills, vocational skills. Any help would be WONDERFUL!

I am trying to locate an umbrella school or cover school for my 11th grader. We are in Wood County. Any information you can provide would be helpful as I would like him to receive something other than a GED.

Request homebound instruction. Most WV schools will not give any credit for work she does at home without the homebound and you don’t want her to lose the credits.
